"In every community there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart there is power to do it." ~Marianne Williamson

Arrival in Antigua is a testament to the beauty of the Guatemalan culture. We are greeted by warm smiles, vibrant colors, cobblestone streets, bustling markets, a busy volcano and the Faith in Practice staff eager to orient us for the week to come.

Today Reverend, John Hubbard opened our team meeting with a prayer and a reminder to be present in our work this week. While we are here to provide medical care, the power of connection with the Guatemalan patients and families is paramount. However, today we focused on connecting with one another..... Team meetings, orientation, a visit to the market and a group dinner set the stage for the week ahead!

“The most basic and powerful way to connect to another person is to listen. Just listen. Perhaps the most important thing we give each other is our attention…..A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.” ~ Rachel Naomi Remen
