This morning we all arrived for breakfast at 6 AM. The faith in practice staff providing us with wonderful food to prepare for the day of surgeries. Our devotional today was provided by Gloria, an amazing nurse that has been volunteering for Faith in Practice for a number of years. She spoke today of gratitude. We are so lucky to be able to return to Guatemala and are very greatful to the local Obras staff, faith in practice staff and all of the volunteers. Our cup is filled by helping those who may not have had help otherwise. The patients who receive surgery at the Obras are not only from Antigua, where the hospital is located, but from all over Guatemala, some patients and families traveling up to 6 hours to be here. Today, the first day of June we were able to complete 11 surgeries, all successfully and will change the patients quality of life dramatically.
One patient in particular had two femoral hernias that he lived with for 26 years.
