Tonight we gathered at our first team meeting in preparation for our travel to Guatemala this Friday. This is when the “why” behind a year of planning becomes so clear. Everyone joins the team for various reasons, but at the end of the day we all come to serve the people of Guatemala who have little or no access to the medical care they desperately need and deserve. In teammate Eileen’s words, “I have been a nurse for many years and this is by far the most meaningful work I have ever done.” This overwhelming desire to serve will be the foundation of the many strong connections we will make during our week together.
This year we have the added concern surrounding the coronavirus. If you have a loved one traveling on this trip please be rest assured that Faith In Practice has been in contact with infectious disease control experts and will be monitoring the situation in an effort to keep our Guatemalan patients and our team healthy throughout. We are following all the necessary protocols and are ready for our journey!
As always your thoughts and prayers are welcomed and appreciated.
