Today was a busy day of triage. This morning we were greeted by a warm and welcoming group of patients anxious to receive the procedures they need.  In total, our surgical team was able to complete 81 patient consultations. Our wheelchair team was able to fit eight patients with wheelchairs. One of our favorite wheelchair candidates was Daruin, a 15-year-old boy who was healthy until he was about nine. For the past six years he has progressively developed what appears to be muscular dystrophy, and has only been able to get around if his mother was able to carry him where he wanted to go. With two and a half ours of hard work, our wheelchair team (with help from some of our surgical team) was able to construct a fully customized chair that will allow Daruin to enjoy more independence and provides him a comfortable life.
