Trust and Respect!! It’s Day 5 of our mission trip and the third day of surgeries. The day started like the others with breakfast and devotional. We all gathered and made the walk to the Obras. Wow, what a sight to see as the doctors make their rounds and you can see how well the patients are doing after their surgeries.
One thing you have to understand is that in the United States we have the choice of doctors and where we go for our treatment. Just think that at the Obras, these patients have no choice and also have no idea who the doctor or nurses are. As you watch, the trust and respect the patients have for all the volunteers is just so amazing.
The team completed their surgeries today, again affecting so many lives and the stories from the patients are incredible as to their journey to the Obras.
Now with that said, let’s meet the doctors on the trip – Dr. Jeff Chimenti – ENT, Dr. Mainsh Wani – ENT, Dr. Mani Ayyar – Surgeon, Dr. Monika Ayyar – Surgical First Assistant, Dr. Roger Brown – Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Milan Sheth – Anesthesiologist (Team Doctor), Dr. Milton Bergson – Anesthesiologist, Dr Joe Fowler – Anesthesiologist
As you watch from afar, these doctors along with the nurses and the Obras staff just do an amazing job. Going from one surgery to another, taking on as many patients as possible doing with what is available in the Obras. At times you hear that something was not available, so now what? Well, that does not stop this team, they figure it out because at the end of the day it is all about the best interest of the patients.
