Welcome readers! Coffee and breakfast, as usual, this morning. Although I was sure there wasn’t going to be any more group singing on this trip I was mistaken. At devotional this morning I was sung a very lively Happy Birthday for it being 6:30 in the morning! I felt very blessed and special today, thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes, although I am still the youngest on this mission, I can officially say that I am not a teenager! After the song, we went into the devotional where Lata led us through a calming breathing exercise, followed by a very touching and relevant quote.
We then walked to the hospital. The surgeons rounded on their patients from yesterday, everybody is looking good! And then started preparing for their patients for today. Since everyone adjusted nicely to the new environment, there were patients being operated on in no time. Everything went smoothly and energy was high throughout the day. Some surgeons finished before others, giving them the opportunity to help their fellow surgeons and see some things they don’t typically see! In the PACU everyone woke up from surgery and was excited to hear that all went well. One even enjoyed a bag of Lays potato chips to get his sodium levels back up!
After a successful day of giving care, everyone went back to the hotel for dinner! Dinner was yummy, but the real star of the show tonight was dessert! We had one of the biggest and best cakes I have ever seen. Thank you to everyone who was able to help in getting me a Birthday Cake! After lots of talking and mingling we all headed to bed.
