Today we continued with surgeries and we were able to get another 13 cases done. One of our favorite experiences was meeting a boy named Wilson. Wilson and his family are from Jalapa, and heard about the program at Hilario Galindo Hospital through a volunteer named Armando, the man who has dedicated the past nine years of his life to helping over 2,500 people receive the medical care they need. Wilson, 11 years old, loves playing soccer and was grateful to come and receive care that will allow him to continue playing sports and doing all the other things that little boys love to do. He and his family are so grateful for the work of his doctors and the help and protection the Lord has given them as they have gone through these experiences. Wilson was a hit with all of the nurses and he loved the toys and coloring book we gave him.
We were also able to donate flip flops, hats, and other supplies to Casa de Milagros, a place where patients and their family members are able to stay while they are traveling to and receiving care from Hilario Galindo. The name, Casa de Milagros, means House of Miracles, and it has truly allowed many miracles to come about for the people that come to receive care here. We are so blessed to be able to serve people from many parts of Guatemala, and look forward to what the rest of the week has in store.
