Good morning! Another delicious meal in our bellies as we start the day with a lovely devotional led by Karen Preston. Although we were not all expected to sing a song early in the morning, I have to admit. We sounded pretty good! It is always fun to switch up devotionals and praise God differently.
We then had a beautiful walk through the historic cobblestone streets of Antigua to the hospital, where we were met by the OBRAS staff and had a tour of the space. There are brand new, updated operating rooms, new changing rooms, and a lunch room. Shortly after our briefing on the rules and protocols, everyone changed into scrubs and immediately started organizing and meeting with patients.
The general surgeons and OBGYNs headed to meet with their patients and were quickly joined by the anesthesiologists. Then, our final team members arrived!! Yay! The urologists went straight to work seeing all their patients! They were able to get through them all very quickly, and it was as if they were there for the entire day. We were all very thankful that they were both native Spanish speakers, making it a speedy process.
As everyone got further along with the patients and organizing, we all were starting to get a much better idea of what this week will look like. After the operating rooms were set up and ready for tomorrow, many people headed back to the Hotel, while others stayed behind to finish up. Upon seeing all of the patients, the anesthesiologists, OBGYNs, urologists, and general surgeons headed back to the Hotel.
We had a delightful evening at the Hotel de las Flores, including a pre-dinner drink and a delicious dinner. Some of us watched the Golden State vs. Celtics game, and we’re thrilled with the end turnout of the game. Go, Warriors! Once again, it was an early night, so we could wake up for breakfast and have energy throughout the day!
