Dr. Heinrich started our day with a reading from Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made and known to god, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus”.
As we all have loved ones, we know the difficulties and fears our patients may have leading up to surgery. Our team tries to make all our patients feel at ease. Sheila, one of our volunteers from Faith In Practice brought along with her two large suitcases filled with clothes, donations, and small toys for the kids. But what stood out the most was she took the time to have 9 rosaries blessed from her church she attends in Seattle, Washington. She also had reusable bags so the patients have something to put their clothes in the day of surgery. She made time to pass them out, individually to each patient waiting to be seen by our faith and practice team and doctors. As the patients met the rest of our team, it makes them feel cared and thought of and not just a number. Sheila and the team go the extra mile, some are having surgery for the first time. The staff are aware of the worries and anxiety they may be feeling. Today our team completed 9 successful surgeries and looking forward to more this week! Please be praying for their recoveries and as the team continues to treat and help our Guatemalan brothers and sisters.
Love,
Vanessa
