This morning’s devotional was right on again…

The 5 Love Languages: 1) Affirmations, 2) Gifts, 3) Quality Time, 4) Physical Touch, 5) Acts of Service. From the time we’re called to take this mission trip, we begin to affirm each day that we are to carry out God’s calling. Each one of us is giving a gift of our quality time to serve and give that reaffirming word, or these days, the knuckle or elbow touch.

Dr. Boutros met with Carla’s mother and social worker after her 7.5-hour surgery.  This was a very sensitive moment; for her mother to hear such wonderful news. She thanked God for giving Carla such a caring, able and loving doctor. You see? Thank you Dr. Boutros for saying YES to this call! Prostates are and will be a continued problem, especially to the underserved – TURPs throughout the week for this much troublesome ailment. Dr. Sam and Dr. Gerber carried out the mission and listened to the cries of the suffering. They have alleviated much discomfort on patients that were losing hope and were found. Of course, without the help of such loving and caring nurses and anesthesiologists, and others during surgery, this undertaking would be impossible.

Post-op care nurses play a very important role in recovery. The continued care and assurance for the patients, by way of helping bring the patients to normal vital readings, and reassuring the patients in a loving and careful way; giving them warmth, smiles, and even a dance or two. Lewin and George brought out the smiles of many. One patient, Luis, who had facial surgery, said his pain level was an 8 out of 10. Once he saw George dancing, he smiled and said his pain was going down. He asked George where he was from, which George answered Kenya. Luis mentioned he was a boxer before his accident and his idol was Mohammed Ali.
