We began our day reflecting on how we have felt during the pandemic and how we feel about returning to service. We imagined what it must feel like for our patients who will be coming to the clinic this week after so long away.
After breakfast, we boarded the bus for the village of Momostenango. We will set up the clinic the next two days in a private school. With the help of local Faith In Practice volunteers, we unloaded the trunks and set up the space. There is a general clinic, pediatrics, gynocology, lab, pharmacy, vision acuity, and referral clinics.
In the afternoon, we headed to our new hotel, got checked in and had a couple hours to rest and settle in. Felipe and Tagni filled us in on the details of how triage and referrals will work.
We have a very early morning planned, so after a lovely dinner we all headed to our rooms in anticipation of what tomorrow will bring…hope and healing for so many. It’s a new day.
