It is so exciting it is to be back in Guatemala after 18 months away during the Covid pandemic! It is obvious that Faith In Practice Staff and network volunteers have done a tremendous job thinking through the logistics of our new reality. In Guatemala, only the elderly and some health care workers have the received vaccine. The 1.5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine donated last week by the US will help somewhat in this country of 15 million.

Our team arrived today and at the hotel in Antigua we had a virtual tour of this colonial capital of Chiapas and Central America by Elizabeth Bell. She is a historian, an author and gives tours of Antigua. She told our group how exciting it is for the people of Guatemala that Faith In Practice is returning. Our presence brings hope that there could be a return to normalcy in the future, a veritable light at the end of what appears now to be a long dark tunnel.

We also heard from Yvonne the Vice Chair of the Faith In Practice Association in Guatemala, who spoke directly from the heart. She talked about how she discovered Faith In Practice by meeting our founders, Joe and Vera Wyatt, and how she felt called to serve as a Guatemalan. She also told us about the death of her father, at age 91, of Covid and how we were offering hope to so many at this difficult time.

Both women provided a passionate introduction to our week with Faith In Practice this year.
