Words can’t express the first day in Antigua. We gathered really early this morning at the airport and met everyone in the group. What an amazing group we have from members that are on their first trip to members who have been here multiple times along with a couple making this their 99th trip. Arriving in Guatemala, we were greeted by the Faith In Practice staff members who made us feel so comfortable and at ease. We quickly jumped into 2 buses and made the trek to the hotel. Once at the hotel we gathered and began with a prayer and a moment to pause and to remember why we were here. Then started our orientation and the schedule for day 2. Everything is so well organized that it makes some of us who are on our first mission trip feel very much at ease. At orientation, we learned about the newly renovated hospital and our schedule for Day 2, everyone in the group is super hyped and looking forward to Day 2 as we will be setting up for the week.
This is my first trip with Faith In Practice and the first trip for my brother as the team lead. I hear his stories every year, but until you get a first-hand experience, you have no idea what it takes to put on a mission like this and the emotional feeling everyone in the group is experiencing.
There is nothing like the dedication that I hear from each person on this team as they talk about why they are here and what will happen all week long!
