¡Hola from Reu, Guatemala 😎! On Friday, the team met at the Dallas Airport and headed to Guatemala City, arriving in the afternoon. After we collected all of our bags, we took a bus to Antigua – wow, was there traffic! It took the bus about 3 hours to make the trip and once we located our hotel, we were graciously greeted by the hotel staffand checked in. After check in, we again boarded the bus to have supper at a nearby restaurant. Although it was after 8pm, the restaurant staff were most welcoming 🙂. It was a full day of travel and the excitement of serving the people of Guatemala shown throughout the team.
Today (Saturday) found the team traveling to Retalhuleu (know as Reu). Although heavy traffic was encountered, a cheer went up when Hospital Hilario Galindo was in sight. The team toured the hospital and clinic, preparing to see patients tomorrow – some patients are staying on the hospital campus prior to surgery.
