Day 3: Monday, March 3, 2025 // FIP Blog

Day Three- It’s go time.

5:15 a.m.  Before the sun rose, some of our team were already out enjoying the cool morning during a Lori-led yoga session around the lantern-lit pool. By 6:00 a.m., the whole team was having breakfast before morning devotionals.

Gavin surprised everyone when we brought in Victor, a previous patient of Team HIM.  Victor, who fell out of a tree as a child, shared his story with the team about how his surgery impacted his life and led him closer to God.

Once back at the hospital, everyone jumped into their positions, with five operating rooms running simultaneously. By the end of the day, the team had performed 24 procedures, including 7 total hips, 13 total knees, and 4 foot & ankle. From a warm word of assurance and prayer during pre-op to the professional teamwork in surgery to the gentle hand guiding in recovery, every Team HIM member performed their responsibilities with passion, joy, and diligence.

Although we’ll be jumping into our patient stories soon (check out tomorrow’s blog!), I’d like to take a moment to highlight those who traveled with the patients for support. We spoke with daughters, spouses, parents, family,  friends, and neighbors.  They showed up so our patients could show up. They sat in prayer, walked the halls, and waited while our team performed procedures. They met with our doctors during post-up, and you could feel their appreciation for the work being done.  We’ll celebrate a hero each day, and today, we celebrate them.

As I mentioned above, we’ll begin to dive into our patient stories tomorrow and hope you come back to see how God is using Team HIM and Faith in Practice in a mighty way!

Best,

Randy
