Day 1: Saturday, March 1, 2025 // FIP Blog

A Warm Welcome from Antigua, Guatemala!

Today marks the arrival of our team to the vibrant city of Antigua, Guatemala, to embark on a week-long journey to partner with Faith in Practice in order to bring hope and healing to those in need.

After a long day of travel, we were greeted at the airport and brought to our home for the week, Quinta de las Flores.  Once everyone settled in, we enjoyed some fresh chips, salsa, and guacamole while our Faith in Practice partners, Maria and Yvonne, reviewed the general trip information and safety tips with us.

This year, we’re proud to announce we have 56 passionate individuals making up our team of Orthopedic Surgeons (specializing in hip, knee, foot, and ankle surgery), anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, physical therapists, nurses, pharmacists, logistics, and more.  Of those, 14 are here for the first time.  I have to say, it’s inspiring to witness good friends from around the country coming back together to make this good work happen while also seeing Team HIM’s legacy continue to grow.

With a great dinner wrapped up, the team will now turn its focus to getting some downtime before the week starts.  Tomorrow, everyone will dive into their roles of organizing the week of surgeries, meeting with patients, performing pre-op workups,  and organizing the equipment for the procedures.

Now, back to this blog.  Throughout the week, we’ll share daily updates and some patient stories, as well as dive into some thoughts and experiences from the team members.

Looking forward to keeping you in the loop!

Best,

Randy
