I’m Therese Kiernan, and I’ll be sharing our Team 842 trip with you this week. This is my 13th trip with Faith in Practice.
Saturday was our travel day to Guatemala. Most of us traveled from either Dallas/Fort Worth or Roanoke, Virginia. Many people commented that it’s like a family reunion when we get back together. And it’s true – we are a family for a week serving the Guatemalan people with Faith in Practice. We also met and welcomed the newcomers who will be experiencing the love of the Guatemalans for the first time.
There’s a lot of work that goes into preparing for these trips, as evidenced by the many trunks of medical supplies. It’s always a challenge getting them all loaded at the airport and then going through Customs in Guatemala.
Upon arriving in Guatemala City, we boarded buses for Antigua. Because it was a Saturday and Valentine’s weekend, the roads were very busy along the way. Our DFW group arrived in the late afternoon, and later in the evening, everyone had arrived.
We all headed to bed early, excitedly anticipating all that the week ahead has in store for us.
