“Faith In Practice was an answer to my desire to seek a new opportunity and an answer to prayers of the people of Guatemala,” said Melissa Lent. “We have witnessed the agony of pain and suffering, but have also experienced the true meaning of hope, faith, healing, and answered prayer.”
Last Thursday, we held our 10th Annual Women’s Luncheon, I Call Upon You. We were so blessed by the more than 300 of you who joined us in ballroom of the Hotel ZaZa to celebrate answered prayer through this life-changing mission.
Thank you to each of you who attended or who made a donation in support of this special event. We are especially grateful to Kathy Huebner, RN, Melissa Lent, DDS, and Kathy Van Wie, the extraordinary women who shared their stories of serving and being blessed, reminding us that in every step of this mission we see prayer at work.
This event would not have been possible without the efforts of our tireless event co-chairs Marybeth Flaherty and Carol Gruen. We are also thankful for Jim and Lucy Parker, our Mercado chairs, and Hotel ZaZa, whose chef Michael de la Flor created an authentic Guatemalan menu for our event and whose staff went above and beyond to make our luncheon exceptional.
Finally, we are grateful for the donors of our wonderful raffle prizes: The Grove, Hotel ZaZa, Jennifer Ellzey, Norm Lewis and Tootsies, and The Westin Galleria Houston.
As Kathy Huebner said, “We didn’t end up in Guatemala 20 years ago by accident. It was all part of God’s plan just like I believe he brought each one of you here today for a reason—whether for prayer support, to volunteer for a Faith In Practice Team…to support Faith In Practice financially, or all of the above.”
Thank you for being a part of this mission.
Even if you were unable to attend this event, you can still be an answer to someone’s prayer by making a donation.
