TUESDAY BLOG

Another beautiful, crisp morning in Guatemala. Thank you God!

All patient care this week is being tracked with a new online application. Those that are using the application were trained Sunday night. As a result of the tool and the fact that it was our first day of clinic a decision was made to have a lower number of patients seen yesterday. Since we are all pros on the app now approximately 50 more patients will be seen today. Thank the Lord for computer experts!

Each day those in clinics are asked to take a break around 10:00 am, followed by another break for lunch which is available anytime between noon and 2:00 pm. Hector is our cook. He hired two women to help him cook and serve us each day. I am not a guacamole expert but my Texas friends say Hector’s guacamole is one of the best ever!

Our wheelchair assemblers were behind the need almost all day yesterday. However by the end of the day there were quite a few made and ready for today’s start.

Debra and Robert Tyler, two of our first-time volunteers live near our team leader, Terry Estes. She is quite the recruiter! 😜 What an experience they are getting! Married for 48 years this couple is comfortable working as a team, though assembling wheelchairs is a first.

Today is sunny and hotter. This fact does not spoil the moods of either the patients or providers. Luciano, an 86 year old was more than happy to pose for me this morning. Also this Mom, son and daughter! (Refer to pictures.).

Of course, Jesus is with us always! (See picture.).
